The European Commission has officially presented the new European Label for organic products on February 8^th.

The new label presents the EU stars in the shape of a leaf against a green background. A German student named Dusan Milenkovic proposed the winning label to the European jury of the design contest. Amongst the more than 3000 propositions, the jury preselected three labels that were then subject to a vote on Internet. 63% of the 130.000 voting people thought Milenkovic’s label being the best one.

His “Euro-leaf” will be obligatory presented on all organic products that have been produced or pre-packed in any country of the European Union. Other organic labels -private, regional or national – still can appear alongside with the European label.
