- Pierre Cros, vigneron et guide spirituel
The Wine Enthusiast called Pascal Verhaeghe the “guru of Cahors” in April 2011. The same year and month, Yves Gras presented the first vintage of his cuvee “Habemus Papam” from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and the River Front Times Saint Louis wrote that Yves was known as the king of Gigondas. While Pierre Cros has been declared “spiritual guide” of the Minervois by the Guide Hachette, it’s up again to Pascal Verhaeghe and the Château du Cèdre to be named “Pope of Cahors” on the website Ledevoir.com, a newspaper from Quebec.
In his “Selection of the Week” on January 18th, Jean Aubry wrote for Le DEVOIR Quebec (extract):
This estate is to Cahors what the pope is to the Vatican: Both are inseparable. The man, the grape variety, his experience and above all his sensibility, combined to the best terroirs - it all serves to build this Cahors on solid ground and to push it to the peak of its possibilities. Colour, density, chew and fruit, nothing’s missing!
